January: Boyne Mountain

Located in Boyne Falls, Boyne Mountain is the ultimate playground. Let loose across 415 skiable acres, jump into Michigan’s largest indoor waterpark, and stroll the world’s longest timber-towered suspension bridge, SkyBridge Michigan. This winter season, SkyBridge will offer a special Lights in the Sky display from November 2024 – February 28th, 2025. Boyne mountain is also home to one of the best spots for snow tubing! If you’re in the mood for more thrills, check out the zipline adventure. Feel what it’s like to fly at speeds of 20-25 mph on lines up to 50 feet in the air and 780 feet in length.

February: Grand Rapids

From world-class attractions and outdoor recreation to nationally ranked food spots – Grand Rapids is filled with unexpected surprises. Explore the endless opportunities for family fun. From now until March 2nd, the annual FREE World of Winter event takes place throughout downtown. Special events at the World of Winter festival include circus wonderland, paint the park, human hungry hippo tournament, and more – which can be found here. When you need a break from the outdoor fun, be sure to check out the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, Grand Rapids Public Museum, and the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

March: Port Huron

Nestled along the St. Clair and Black rivers, Downtown Port Huron offers picturesque strolls, unique dining, and retail shops that are second to none. While known for being a great beach town in the summer, take the short drive to experience their NEW Discovery City Children’s Museum! Discovery City is the premiere children’s museum in Michigan’s Thumb. At Discovery City, children can learn through play with interactive and nature-inspired exhibits.

April: Isle Royale National Park

The park opens April 16th for the season, just in time for the ice to thaw and the flowers to bloom. You’ll need to get there first so plan to travel by ferry, seaplane, or your own private boat. Isle Royale is a great place to bring your family for the day or overnight. Hike, campfishboatjoin a ranger programtake a boat tour, visit old lighthouses and science research stations, or paddle the quiet waters of Tobin Harbor or Washington Harbor.

May: Holland

April showers bring May flowers – and what better place to see flowers than at the annual Tulip Time Festival in Holland. The festival attractions include parades, Dutch Dancers, a carnival, fireworks, a floral immersion experience, and of course… TULIPS! Mark your calendars for a trip to Holland for the festival happening from May 2nd – 11th.

June: Manistique (Kitch-Iti-Kipi)

If you haven’t discovered the beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula – it’s doesn’t get any more beautiful than the largest nature, freshwater spring in MI! Palms Book State Park is known as one of Michigan’s most alluring natural attractions, the park is home to Michigan’s largest freshwater spring, Kitch-iti-kipi, referred to as “The Big Spring.” Step onto the observation raft and enjoy one of Michigan’s hidden gems.

July: Traverse City

From their annual Cherry Festival (June 28 – July 5), to climbing the Sleeping Bear Dunes, heading ‘up north’ is a Michigan summer must! Spend time at the beach, take a boat tour, and be sure to sample the delicious cuisine in downtown Traverse City.

August: Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is a family-friendly destination filled with fun activities for all ages. Explore the island’s scenic parks, ride bikes along car-free streets, visit historic landmarks, or enjoy a horse-drawn carriage tour. From interactive museum exhibits to outdoor adventures, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Don’t forget the fudge!

September: Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, America’s first National Lakeshore, is along the southern shore of Lake Superior in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula. With stunning beaches, 10 inland lakes, and nearly 100 miles of trails, everyone can find something to enjoy at Pictured Rocks! Wrap up your summer with a visit to the beaches, backpack, and camping. October: Saugatuck

While it’s an amazing summer destination, the town of Saugatuck is worth visiting all year round! During cool autumn days, you’ll find the scenic landscape ablaze with color, making it the perfect time for a bike ride or dune hike. Go apple picking, wind your way through a corn maze, take a gallery stroll, or explore the many shops downtown.

November: Detroit

Kick off your holiday season in downtown Detroit to get you in the holiday spirit! Some of our favorite November activities in Detroit include America’s Thanksgiving Parade, the Detroit Tree Lighting, and catching a holiday show at one of the many venues downtown.

December: Frankenmuth

Willkommen to Michigan’s Little Bavaria! Is it even Christmas if you don’t visit Frankenmuth? Our answer, no! So, stop by Bronner’s for an ornament, sit down for a chicken dinner at Bavarian Inn, and enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride while enjoying the twinkling lights.
