All aboard! Calling all metro Detroit train lovers, here are the things to do metro Detroit this weekend.

A Day Out with Thomas @ Greenfield Village: Saturday, May 4th & Sunday, 5th

Hop aboard an interactive train ride on Thomas, say hello to Sir Topham Hatt™ and get poppin’ with special activities in the Bubble Zone. Experience wide-eyed, memory-making moments on a springtime adventure in Greenfield Village, including storytelling, play areas, lawn games, photo ops, bubble-blowing zones, live music and more. Admission to Day Out With Thomas includes a timed ticket to ride on Thomas the Tank Engine and themed programming for your littlest engineer — plus, all-day access to Greenfield Village for over 80 acres of inspiration. A Day Out With Thomas activities are happening May 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th.

Train Day @ DNR Outdoor Adventure Center: Saturday, May 4th

Train Day includes interactive activities, such as an inflatable train to crawl through and a trackless train to ride on (weather permitting), a model railroad, guest speaker, railroading artifacts and more! Outdoor activities free; indoor activities free with building admission.

Detroit Historical Museum: Saturday, May 4th

The Detroit Historical Museum is offering FREE admission on Saturday from 10am to 5pm. It’s a great excuse to explore the museum and take your train lover to see their model train set.

Great Lake Steamers @ Starr Jaycee Park: Saturday, May 4th & Sunday, 5th

Great Lakes Live Steamers run miniature train rides from 12pm to 4pm the first weekend each month at Starr Jaycee Park in Royal Oak and the third weekend each month at Southgate Train Park. The rides are complimentary, but donations are appreciated. Availability is subject to change and temperatures must be 50 or above and not raining at noon.
