Museums are constantly changing and here’s a rundown temporary exhibits Michigan families will enjoy.

Note: Museum memberships are a great investment – especially depending on your family size. You will often find that the membership pays for itself in two visits and provides you with a year of go-to activity.

Ice Dinosaurs @ Sloan Museum of Discovery – Flint (Jan. 20 – May 3)

Explore paleontology’s final frontier in the new traveling exhibition ICE DINOSAURS: The Lost World of the Alaskan Arctic. This immersive, interactive, and educational experience features groundbreaking discoveries, animatronic displays, real fossils, and more. Built around groundbreaking discoveries that challenge the traditional understanding of paleontology, ICE Dinosaurs invites visitors to learn about the unique adaptations of polar dinosaurs who lived in cold, dark, and snowy conditions year-round.

Sloan Museum of Discovery is open Tuesdays thru Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sundays from 12pm to 5pm

Mystery of the Mayan Medallion @ Cranbrook Institute of Science – Bloomfield Hills (Feb. 1 – June 7)

In this immersive exhibit, visitors are transported to Palenque, Mexico, where an archaeological team has mysteriously disappeared from a dig site while investigating rumors of a priceless jade medallion. They will follow the clues the team left behind to locate the precious medallion while avoiding the dangers lurking in the ruins.

Cranbrook Insititute of Science is open Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 5pm; Friday from 10am to 10pm; Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm

Tyrannosaurs: Meet the Family @ Grand Rapids Public Museum (Now – April 26)

In Tyrannosaurs: Meet the Family, you can catch up on the latest knowledge about the “most feared and revered” of all dinosaurs. Learn about the most significant discoveries in paleontology over the last decade, experience the scale of these creatures, and have fun in an immersive, hands-on environment.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is open Monday – Friday from 9am to 5pm, Saturday & Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

DaVinci The Exhibition @ The Henry Ford – Dearborn (Now – May 3)

DaVinci The Exhibition is a detailed exploration of the life and work of the ultimate Renaissance man. Step into the world of Leonardo da Vinci through full-scale inventions, intricate art studies and stunning displays set against the backdrop of the Italian countryside. This limited-time exhibition brings to life da Vinci’s discoveries in art, engineering, science, flight and more to celebrate and study one of history’s most brilliant minds. Each invention in this exhibition was handcrafted by skilled artisans following da Vinci’s original two-dimensional drawings and modern translations of his Codices — comprehensive collections containing nearly all of his sketches, notes and ideas. The exhibit is included with general admission and membership.

The Henry Ford Museum is open daily from 9:30am to 5pm.
