If you’re thinking about starting your little in swim school but don’t know where to start, we’re answering commonly asked questions about  Aqua-Tots Swim School.

If you follow LittleGuide Detroit on social media you’ve seen updates about our experience at Aqua-Tots Swim School. We get lots of questions from followers about our experience; therefore, I’m answering the most commonly asked questions about swim school.

My daughter is afraid to be around water and I don’t know how she will do in class.

Lucas is 5 years old and very timid. He’s not afraid of water but he has been afraid of putting his head under water. I was nervous about how he would handle it but he’s doing great. The MOM Lesson I’ve learned is that my kid is more resilient than I thought.

What if my son doesn’t want to put his head under water?

My son DID NOT want to put his head under water either. But they started with a chin for the first class and have progressed to full head and open eyes in just 4 sessions!

Is it crowded?

We go Sunday morning and it’s busy but not overwhelming. There are only 4 students in his session and they have a portion of the pool roped off for class so he has plenty of space. Aqua-Tots offers private lessons as well for those who want 1 on 1 learning.

How often do you go to swim class?

It’s recommended that you go a couple days a week but the reality of our schedule is that we can only do once a week. Fortunately, Lucas has grown in his water comfort each week with no regression.

Is it worth the cost?

Peace of mind is priceless and knowing Lucas will be safe around water (particularly since he has a demanding little brother) can’t be beat. But aside from that, he really enjoys his lessons and his instructor. My husband and I enjoy getting to chat with the fellow parents during class as we watch the kids. Best of all Lucas’ confidence has increased and I get to see how well he handles things that make him uncomfortable when I’m not in the room (but watching from the other side of the glass).
