If you’re looking for a walkable downtown full of local shopping and dining, picturesque parks, and families EVERYWHERE you turn, Birmingham is the perfect place to visit this spring with kids.

TAKE A SPRING STROLL THROUGH DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM

On April 15th, Downtown Birmingham is hosting a Spring Stroll. Families will be sent on a stroll throughout the district to find participating stores. Each store will have a little treat for kids and shopping incentives for adults. Kids will fill in a coloring sheet as they visit each store. Completed coloring sheets can be turned in to recieve a prize.

VISIT THE YOUTH ROOM AT BALDWIN LIBRARY

We love a good library trip and Baldwin Library in downtown Birmingham is a good one for your visit list. The recently renovated Yout Room includes a larger play area, aquarium, and an outdoor children’s garden + terrace. After visiting the library, be sure to head across the street to Shain Park, which has an adorable children’s play area.

PLAY AT BOOTH PARK

Birmingham has TONS of amazing parks and playgrounds but Booth Park is a hands down favorite. With beautiful views of downtown and a massive hill to climb, picnic, or even roll down (a favorite for the kids), not only is this park breathtakingly beautiful, it’s FUN. The playground is unique and includes a castle-like play structure, a kid-sized labyrinth, and a turf hill that’s famous for cardboard sledding! On the southern end of Booth Park, you can take a half mile stroll down Booth Trail which follows the Rogue River. The nature walk is just long enough for littles to walk on their own and the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the downtown area.

EXPLORE STEM AT THE ROBOT GARAGE + FASCINATION FACTORY

The Robot Garage offers kids a chance to explore engineering and robotics through fun, hands-on activities. From single day classes and Kids’ Night Out, to family workshops (including an Egg Spinning Robot class on April 7th) there are lots of opportunities for a good time at the Robot Garage.

Fascination Factory is the newest play cafe in metro Detroit. Switch up your daily playtime routine and introduce your littles to a curated S.T.E.A.M toy collection that has everything they need to create their own world while you sit back and relax. Designed with littles in mind, the space is open and airy. Let the kids explore while you sit back and relax with complimentary coffee or hot chocolate.
