Kensington Metropark has been offering families a place to get back to nature and have fun for generations. If you’re looking for a place to spend a day, head to Milford and check out our favorite Metropark.

Kensington is one of 13 Huron-Clinton Metroparks and you can gain admission to the park with a day pass or annual parks pass ($40). The Annual Pass grants you access to all of the parks and is well worth the cost but if it’s not in your budget, gain FREE admission with the Michigan Activity Pass (learn more about that here).

Kensington Metropark is located at 4570 Huron River Parkway in Milford and open daily from 6am to 10pm. Specific venues like the Farm and Nature Center have their own hours but are FREE with admission.

Kensington Farm Center

The Kensington Farm Center is the perfect place to take kids who love animals. Open year round (only closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas) you can find all your barnyard favorites and often newborn animals too. The farm features cows, sheep, pigs, goats, horses, chickens and more. The farm regularly hosts classes and workshops for kids of all ages too. Check the calender here for upcoming events.

Kensington Nature Center

Find indoor fun and kid-friendly classes at the Kensington Nature Center. Kids can see and explore wildlife exhibits (that include live animals) and learn by engaging with hands-on displays. Children’s programming is also scheduled, check the calendar here for upcoming events. The Nature Center is open Mondays from 1pm to 5pm and Tuesdays to Sundays from 10am to 5pm.

Nature Trails

Kensington offers MILES of walking/biking trails that are designed to meet the needs and interests of guests. Take the long paved route around Kent Lake or follow a rustic trail that originates from the Nature Center.

Playgrounds

There are multiple playgrounds at Kensington and the strucutres at Martindale Beach and Maple Beach are our top picks. The new play structure at Maple Beach is all-inclusive and accessible to kids of different needs.

Seasonal Activities

Kensington has it ALL – two beaches, splash pad, boat/kanoe rental, fishing, golf, ski rental, disc golf and more! All year long you can find outdoor activities to keep you busy.
