SPECIAL EVENTS – SAVE THE DATE
- Art Birmingham – May 9th & 10th: Art Birmingham, originally known as the Birmingham Fine Art Festival, now in its 45th year, takes place on the street surrounding Shain Park. The juried art fair attracts 80,000 fair goers each year.
- Hometown Parade and Party – Sunday, May 17th from 1pm to 4pm: The parade begins at 1pm, find a spot along North Old Woodward and join the party happening at Shain Park until 4pm.
- Birmingham Village Fair – May 28th to May 31st: Grab family and friends and go for a swirl, twirl or round-and-round on a ride, bite into classic carnival food and try your luck at a game!
- Outdoor Movie Night – Friday, June 5th from 6:30pm to 9pm: Head to Booth Park for an outdoor movie night featuring Smurfs (2025) and free family-friendly entertainment. Pre-show entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m; movie at 7:30 p.m.

VISIT THE YOUTH ROOM AT BALDWIN LIBRARY
We love a good library trip and Baldwin Library in downtown Birmingham is a good one for your visit list. The Youth Room includes a play area, aquarium, and an outdoor children’s garden + terrace. Check out the Idea Lab for a wide arrange of tools, eqquipment and other services that allow you to make a variety of things with 3D printing, laser cutter, heat press and more! After visiting the library, head across the street to Shain Park, which has an adorable children’s play area.

PLAN A PLAYGROUND PARK HOP
Birmingham has TONS of amazing parks and playgrounds – including new ones! Here’s a list of park to check out this summer:
- Booth Park: The downtown park is a Birmingham signature. The playground is unique and includes a castle-like play structure, a kid-sized labyrinth, and a turf hill that’s famous for cardboard sledding! On the southern end of Booth Park, you can take a half mile stroll down Booth Trail which follows the Rogue River. The nature walk is just long enough for littles to walk on their own and the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the downtown area.
- Adams Park: One of Birminghams newer playgrounds, Adams Park features swings for all ages, spinners, teeter totters, musical instruments, climbing structures, sand pits, soccer goals, basketball court, long jump and places for the parents to sit and take it all in.
- Pumphouse Park: the newest neighborhood park has two climbing structures for both little kids and big kids – swingsfor al ages and abilities too.
- Poppleton Park: Opening this summer the 17.2 acre park is getting a massive new playground.

EXPLORE STEM AT THE ROBOT GARAGE + FASCINATION FACTORY
The Robot Garage offers kids a chance to explore engineering and robotics through fun, hands-on activities. From single day classes and Kids’ Night Out, there are lots of opportunities for a good time at the Robot Garage.
Make a splash at Goldfish Swim School in Birmingham. Sign up for a class to be prepared for summer or stop in for family time and enjoy an open swim session.
Fascination Factory is designed with littles in mind, the space is open, airy and offers an array of S.T.E.M. toys to keep kids active and engaged. Let the kids explore while you sit back and relax with complimentary coffee or hot chocolate.

SHOP THE FARMERS MARKET
Birmingham Farmers Market is an outdoor market featuring Michigan-grown produce, meat and dairy, floral arrangements, plants, artisan goods and more. The market is open every Sunday from May 3rd through October from 9am to 2pm and is located in Public Parking Lot 6 at 660 North Old Woodward Avenue. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the welcoming atmosphere with live music, food trucks, kids’ activities and special events.
