The holiday season can be a blur, finding a special activity for your family to do each year is a great way to step away from the chaos and have quality time together. Here are 7 activities in metro Detroit to consider.

Attend a Tree Lighting Ceremony

November 14 – December 7

Come together with your neighbors to sing carols and countdown to the tree lighting ceremony. Cities across southeast Michigan are celebrating the holiday, find an event near you.

Wayne County Lightfest

November 20 – December 24

Put on your favorite Christmas playlist and go for a ride down Hines Drive. The five mile route has an array of holiday lights (for only $5 per car) and kicks off with the ‘Lights On’ Opening Celebration on November 20th.

Find Your Favorite Light Display

November 17 – January 19

From the Wild Lights (Detroit) to Winter Wonder Lights (Rochester) and the Glenlore Trails Aurora (Commerce), you can have light show fun before bedtime during the holiday season.

DSO Home For The Holidays

December 12 – 14

Get dressed up and sing your favorite Christmas Carols with Santa and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra during Home For The Holidays.

Holiday Nights

December 4 – 28

Go back in time and experience the holiday traditions of the past. From carolers roaming the streets, hand-crafted decorations, yuletide activities and – of course – Santa and his reindeer, Greenfield Village brings the magic of the holidays alive in December.

Watch A Holiday Parade

November 21 – December 7

Bundle up and watch a Santa parade for the holidays. Enjoy a daytime show or find a lighted parade, either way your kids will love it and so will you.

Visit Downtown Detroit

November 21 – December 28

Family fun happens daily but you’ll want to mark your calendars for the Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 21st, Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 27th and Holidays at Michigan Central.

Here’s one more! Every year, my family goes to Blake Farms to cut down a tree. We have so much fun taking the tractor to the fields, picking the perfect tree and enjoying some holiday goodies afterwards – and we know you will love it too.
