Bundle up and spend time outside at one of the many local winter festivals happening all throughout Metro Detroit this weekend. From ice carvings to plenty of live entertainment, find fun for all ages.

St. Clair’s Icy Bazaar (St. Clair Shores)

Friday – Sunday

St. Clair’s Icy Bazaar is a weekend long ice festival in downtown St. Clair, Michigan and the St. Clair Riverview Plaza. Over 40 ice carvings, small and life size in scale on display, as well as live ice carvings through out the weekend. Entertainment and fun activities for everyone – oh, and fireworks on Saturday at 7:45pm.

BRRmingham Blast (Birmingham)

Head to Downtown Birmingham for a winter family fun festival! Bundle up and fly through the sky on a zip line or get toasty in a warming tent with savory favorites and warm sweets from local food trucks.

Fire & Ice Show (Franklin)

Saturday

Head to Franklin Library for ice sculpting with exceptional ice artist Tajana from Ice Dreams Sculptures and, new this year, fire performer Lady Xena will do fire magic with fire eating, breathing, swords and more! 

Rouge Park Winterfest (Detroit)

 Hosted by Friends of Rouge Park, this annual winter festival promises a fun-filled day for the whole family to celebrate the beauty of Rouge Park, enjoy exciting activities, and make lasting memories.

Winter Carnival (Oakland Township)

This FREE event in Oakland Township is held no matter the weather. They’ve got ice carving demos, snow games, archery, snow snake luge, broom ball, snowshoes, ice skating, puppet and magic show! But don’t worry – they’ve also got warming tents and indoor bathrooms.

Winterfest (Dryden)

Saturday

Head to Seven Ponds Nature Center for Winterfest. There will be hot dogs for roasting over a fire, pond dipping, lawn games, ice cutting, ice skating, a snowman building competition, and interpretive walks outside. In the event there is not sufficient snow or ice, alternative activities will be provided. Admission is $3 per person and pre-registration is required.

Aqua Freeze Festival (St. Clair Shores)

Saturday & Sunday

Ice Carving, horse drawn wagon rides, food trucks and beer tent, putt-putt, live music and more at Blossom Heath Park. FREE entry.

Winterfest (Oak Park)

Sunday

This annual family-friendly event, hosted by the City of Oak Park and Oak Park Recreation has something for everyone. There will be horse and carriage rides thru the park, petting zoo (reindeer only), ice carving, hot chocolate, ice skating, s’mores and more! Don’t miss out on this FREE event!

World of Winter (Grand Rapids)

The World of Winter is a FREE outdoor festival that takes over downtown Grand Rapids’ parks every year. Bundle up and walk along the Grand River to find a variety of larger-than-life art installations, interactive ice activities, selfie stations and more! This is the Midwest’s LARGEST winter festival and it’s only 2 hours away.
