The Henry Ford‘s Salute to America returns in a re-imagined format this summer.

Salute to America is one of my favorite annual events that features the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and fireworks! This year the summer sensation will look a little different as families are invited to join a summer stroll for the evenings of Wednesday, June 30th to Saturday, July 3rd.

Put on your walking shoes and pull out the stroller to take in the unique atmosphere of Greenfield Village with a series of historical decade vignettes, historical building experiences and free carousel rides. Enjoy your favorite summer treat as you listen to performance groups — showcasing a diverse assembly of music from American history, including choral singing, ragtime, jazz and more — around the Village Green. Each symphony ensemble will be rotated throughout the evening to represent each section of the orchestra (brass, woodwinds, strings, etc.), rather than performing on a single grand stage. Delight in marching fifes and drums and an extraordinary fireworks display at the end of your evening.

Early bird tickets are on sale now. $28 for non-member adults, non-member kids (ages 5 to 11) are $19.50 and children 4 and under are free.

Pro-tip get the membership! A family membership without rides is $185 for 2 adults and kids at household (membership with rides pass is $285) and grants you unlimited visits to the museum and village AND free parking. One venue, one day admission for a family of 4 (ages 5 and older) is $93.50. When you visit twice, it’s paid for itself and you’ll want to visit more than twice because there are plenty of fun exhibits and events happening at The Henry Ford this summer – including The Jim Henson Exhibition!
