The Belle Isle Nature Center is one of the best attractions in metro Detroit for families. The hands-on facility offers FREE fun for families all year long and on Saturday, January 27th guests of all ages can experience Winterfest.

Plan a visit to the Belle Isle Nature Center between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, January 27th and experience Winterfest. The annual celebration of all things winter offers guests the chance to trek through the trails on snowshoes, make a feeder to care for birds in the winter, learn about animal adaptations and winter survival, and much more. The outdoor event also features ice carving demonstrations and s’more making!

Winterfest is a FREE public event that does not require registration.

Make sure you spend time inside too! The Belle Isle Nature Center recently underwent extensive renovations. Kids can see animals up close, crawl through tunnels where they can pretend to be ants hard at work collecting and storing food and engage in hands-on activities throughout the center.

A State of Michigan Recreation Passport is required to drive on Belle Isle. Most cars have them on their tab renewal, but you can purchase an annual pass for $17 at the State Park (it grants access to ALL of Michigan’s State parks).
