When you’re trying to figure out a place to play indoors in metro Detroit, here’s a breakfown of the best activity centers broken down by age. So whether you’re not sure what is right for your kid or trying to balance a playdate with multiple ages, here’s a cheat sheet to make planning a little easier.

Babies: 0 to 2

Nothing beats the look of aw and wonder on your babe’s face as they discover new things in the world around them. When you’re ready to get out the house and start exploring, here are great spaces that are designed with littlest users in mind.

Toddlers: 2 to 4

The days are long but the years are short. When you need to get out the house, here are the best places for little ones. Other activities to think about are library events and play structures at a local mall – with so many hours in a day, you can’t beat free fun.

Early Elementary: 5 to 7

Peak indoor play place age. They are young enough to enjoy endless entertainment and perhaps brave enough to play without you so you can sit back and relax.

Upper Elementary: 8 to 10

That inbetween age where they’re still kids but their bodies are bigger than they used to be can make it harder to strike a balance with indoor fun. Here’s a list of indoor play places with spacioius playscapes that allow them to run and play easily. Included are other activities they may be tall enough for now too like go-kart racing.

Tweens: 11+

As our littles get big, it can be harder to figure out where they’ll have fun. These indoor play places are great for older kids and have more rides, trampolines, slides and ninja courses to challenge their growing interests (and limbs). Other activities to think about are bowling, escape rooms, laser tag, mini golf and museums!
