You don’t need to travel far to get that “getaway” feeling. Several pools and waterparks have special hours or events while the kids are on break. So, pack up the swimsuits and towels and head to one of these places that will make you feel like you’re on vacation!
Goldfish Swim School
Goldfish Swim School has locations all over metro-Detroit. Check out the week-long JumpStart clinics or stop in for open swim. Swimming in the amazing heated pools (to a pleasant 90°) is bound to make you feel like you’re on vacation.
- Birmingham: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday – 12pm to 1pm and Friday – 6:30pm to 8pm
- Canton: Wednesday & Thursday – 12pm to 1pm and Friday – 6:30pm to 8pm

Canton Aquatic Center

The Summit pool is zero level entry and goes up to 3ft deep. They have toys out for the kids to play with, along with a small slide. During the open swims the lap pool, lazy river, water slide, and the leisure pool are open for guests to enjoy. While there are no official special’s for Presidents Day, check out the open swim schedule:

Dearborn Ford Center

The Dearborn natatorium includes a leisure pool with zero-depth entry, water slide, lazy river, bubble couch and spray amusements; a 25-yard long lap pool with a diving well and a drop slide; spa; and outdoor terrace.

The Hawk Aquatics Center

The Hawk Aquatics Center has a water slide, AquaZip’N, lazy river, climbing wall, zero depth entry, and two lap lanes, as well as brand new state of the art locker rooms, and ADA accessible features in the pool.

Livonia Recreation Center

Kids can make a splash in the zero-entry pool with splash pad features, go for a spin in the whirlpool, take laps around the lazy river and see how many times they can ride down the inner tube slide. The aquatic center also features a bubble tub, hot tub and lap pools. Here’s the open swim schedule:

Macomb Township Aquatics Center

The Macomb Township Parks and Recreation Aquatics Center features two pool facilities and a whirlpool. Enjoy a water slide, log run and lazy river/vortex with waterfall, zero depth entry area, play structure and floor geysers.

Troy Community Center

The indoor leisure pool (82–84º) includes slides, kiddie water features, and lap lanes (20 yards long, 44 laps = 1 mile) at a depth of 4 feet. Additional open swims are generally added for spring break.

Warren Community Center

The Warren Community Center Pool features water slides, a lazy river, splash pad and lap pool. Only available for Warren and Sterling Heights residents.
