Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve is one of our favorite places to explore in metro Detroit and after a long closure it is finally reopened for family fun!
Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve is one of the coolest places to visit in metro Detroit. Get a Rocky Mountain experience close to home and let the kids climb on rocky terrain, hills and pathways (it’s the most epic spot for hide and seek but be ready to hold your breath). After you play on the rocks, take a stroll through the nature trail (it’s stroller friendly) and make your way to the overlook onto five-acre Carpenter Lake.
Bring your camera because the grounds are beautiful and the perfect place for family photos. There’s a large public parking lot in front of the rock park and nature trail and newly installed restrooms.
If the kids still have energy afterwards, stop by Bauervic Woods Park. The playground is only 10 minutes away and designed for kids of all ages. Put 26000 Evergreen Rd, Southfield, MI 48076 in your GPS, the entrance is off 9 Mile Road, west of Evergreen.
