Everyone is invited to attended the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy’s Shimmer on the River fundraising event at Robert C. Valade Park on Thursday, June 23 from 5 to 9 p.m. This year’s beach-themed celebration will feature live music from Alise King, a Riverfront Boardwalk filled with summer activities, a family-friendly Adventure Park, delicious food and refreshments and more.

Delta Dental of Michigan is the sponsor of the Adventure Park with activities for adults and kids alike. Guests can climb the rock wall for an unforgettable view of the riverfront or enjoy fun and interactive games like an obstacle course, inflatable axe throwing, Skee Ball, soccer kick and Connect Four.

The Riverfront Boardwalk, sponsored by Arn & Nancy Tellem, will give guests a Venice Beach-inspired experience with a unique Detroit twist. The area will include face painting, roller skating performers and other surprises. Guests can test their creative side by making their own sand creations and participating in an interactive letterpress experience with Signal Return. Guests can also get ready for beach season by picking up one-of-a-kind airbrushed hats from Aired Out Customs or by visiting the boardwalk gift shop to grab Conservancy-themed beach swag. All activities, giveaways and gift shop items are free to Shimmer guests.

Tickets to Shimmer on the River are $150 each and include access to the main event from 6 to 9 p.m., a strolling dinner and refreshments, live entertainment, prizes, games and free admission for up to two children 12 and under. The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is a non-profit organization that manages and maintains the city’s stunning attraction.
