At LittleGuide Detroit we want to make it easier for you to find all kinds of information from finding the latest playgrounds to festive events to fill you weekend and quality education options to keep your littles busy during week. This post is a partnership with Eagle Creek Academy in Lake Orion.

Eagle Creek Academy is a private school in Lake Orion, MI, serving children from toddlerhood to 5th grade. We organize the children into very small classes and offer customized lessons, so each child excels. We go far beyond saying we differentiate for each child; we actually use lesson plans that address each child’s strengths and needs. For example, in one classroom, we may have two or three math levels, and we may even send some children to a higher grade for math because they are ready for it.

Our specialty is STEAM, the integration of science, technology, engineering, art and math. At all age levels, STEAM is part of our everyday lessons. It is also a K-5 elective class five times per week, and it’s the thrust of our field trips and after-school activities. It seems we are always upgrading to the newest equipment and learning new technologies along with the children.

At all age levels, we adore hands-on activities because we know that children learn best when they are actively engaged. In fact, although we do not “teach to the test,” all of our K-5 classes average far better than the national average on the standardized tests, and all of our students soar in middle school and beyond.

Of course, we also offer music, gym, and Spanish. Even the toddlers and preschoolers have Spanish classes with a native Spanish-speaking teacher.

One compliment we often hear is that our teachers really love the kids, and we agree. Not only do our teachers average 18 years of experience, but to us, each class is like a small family where the teachers, children and parents develop strong friendships.

Our toddler and preschool families really appreciate that the groups stay together for the entire school year (just like the K-5 kids) because it helps everyone form enduring relationships. These bonds are key. We like to remind families that we have many options for reducing tuition, especially for children whose parents are in health care, education, law enforcement, and the military, or whose families just need some financial support. Importantly, Eagle Creek is a non-profit school, meaning that nobody gains a profit. Instead, we invest all leftover funds back into the school for future wonderful years. We truly believe in children and where they are going, and you can believe in us.
