You can enjoy local maple syrup any time of the year, but you can only see how this tasty pure Michigan treat is made for these few late winter weekends. So, bundle up and join us for a Journey to the Sugarbush. Learn how to recognize maples without their leaves, find out how to pick just the right tree, see the simple tools and techniques required, and if conditions are just right, watch the sap flow from a tap. A treat for the senses, you will taste, smell, and even hear how maple sugaring is special.
Locally made maple syrup products are available for walk-up purchase at the Activity Center. For pancake breakfasts, be sure to add Pancakes to Go when you register. This ready-to-eat pancake meal is pre-order only and comes with flatware and napkins so you can enjoy inside the Activity Center or on a winter picnic in the park. (Please do not eat pancakes during the program.) Meals are available between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on February 22-23 and March 1-2. If adding pancakes-to-go, choose a section before or after your Journey to the Sugarbush experience.
Maple production depends on temperatures. If, as of 9am the day of the program, the forecasting service used does not predict the temperature during the program time to hit at least 25 degrees Fahrenheit, or if there are other highly unfavorable weather conditions, the program will be cancelled, and all registered participants will be contacted and refunded.
