World Dance Day, also known as International Dance Day, was first celebrated in 1982. April 29 was chosen as the date to commemorate Jean-Georges Noverre’s birthday, a French ballet master. The goal of World Dance Day is to encourage dance programs in schools, and to provide an occasion for the public to enjoy and participate in the art of dance.
The City of Oak Park and the Oak Park Arts and Cultural Diversity Commission are proud to participate in this tradition every year and thank you for joining us in this celebration!
