Oakwoods Metropark has a new accessible hiking path, making it the perfect place for your family to spend time in nature.

Huron-Clinton Metroparks offers 13 unique locations to enjoy the great outdoors in southeast Michigan. Oakwoods is noted for its scenic woodlands and picturesque views of the Huron River. The 1,756-acre park features nature trails that meander through mature woodlands, a recently renovated Nature Center that offers hands-on fun where kids can learn and play, fishing spots, a designated monarch butterfly waystation and a canoe/kayak rental.

The Huron-Clinton Metroparks is committed to removing barriers and improving access for all park users, and now that experience at Oakwoods Metropark is even better with improved accessibility to the nature center and some surrounding nature trails. The new trail surface of the Split Log Nature Trail is made of accessible compacted gravel (great for wheelchairs, strollers and wagons), upgraded a trailside observation deck and added amenities along the way such as picnic tables, drinking station, benches, and accessible educational signage.

Plan your visit for one of the Nature Center’s youth classes. Tadpoles is a monthly series for kids ages 2 to 5 and costs $4 per child. Explorer’s Club is for kids ages 6 to 14 and also costs $4 per child.

A Huron-Clinton Metropark vehicle pass is required to enter the park. An annual pass is $40 (and grants access to all 13 parks) and a day pass is $10. You can also gain FREE access to 13 Huron-Clinton Metroparks with your library card, learn how here.
