Looking for a hands-on way to teach your kids about giving back? Don’t miss this heartwarming, FREE opportunity where little ones can make a big difference. Join Kroger and LittleGuide Detroit for the Kids Helping Kids: Backpack Stuffing Volunteer Event, a special morning dedicated to helping children in our community start the school year off strong.

Families are invited to the Kroger Marketplace in Royal Oak to help stuff 1,000 backpacks full of essential school supplies and snacks for local children in need. The backpacks will be donated to The Children’s Foundation and distributed to kids across Metro Detroit.

This event is designed with young volunteers in mind—an opportunity that’s hard to come by for little ones who want to help but are often too young for traditional volunteer roles.

What To Expect:

  • A 1-Hour Hands-on volunteering opportunity with backpack-stuffing stations filled with school supplies and snacks
  • Free snacks and coffee bar for all volunteers and parents
  • Fun interactive activities to engage and inspire kids
  • The chance to win a $500 Kroger Gift Card—one lucky little volunteer will be selected!

Spots are limited and expected to fill quickly. Whether your child is a preschooler or a preteen, this event is a wonderful way to introduce them to the joys of giving back.

Sign up for one of two 1-hour volunteer shifts (9am to 10am or 10am to 11am) and show your kids how they can make a difference. The event activities include:
