New Playgrounds to Visit in Metro Detroit this Spring

Spring is in the air and that means more park days! Get ready to go outside, explore and find fresh fun with new playgrounds to visit in metro Detroit this spring.

Detroit Riverfront – Ralph C Wilson Jr. Centennial Park (Detroit)


The Detroit Riverfront’s Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park is a 22-acre world-class park located on Detroit’s West Riverfront. Enjoy the first summer season of the signature Detroit playground including the water garden, the William Davidson Sport House, and the Delta Dental Play Garden with an array of animal structures.

Pumphouse Park – Birmingham


The new neighborhood playground at Pumphouse Park has equipment for kids big and small.

Civic Center Park – Clinton Township


Clinton Township Civic Center Park is one for your to-visit list. The large new playground has something for all ages and abilities. With a large play structure for big kids, small structures for littles, barrier free play space for all interests and LOTS of places to swing, bounce, spin and zip line.

 

Lapeer Park – Dearborn


Dearborn opened another inclusive playground this summer at Lapeer Park. The playscape features shade sails, a three-story tower, a sensory play center, a communication board, a variety of slides, wildcat digi rider, and a bank of swings. Address: 9920 Lapeer, Dearborn

Mies Park – Livonia


This park is mostly shaded and is very spread out! Great for those kids who love to run. It is nestled in a local neighborhood and has tons of trees to explore. The park has one main structure, two sets of swing sets, and a smaller structure as well as a pavilion!

Waldenburg Park – Macomb


Waldenburg Park has a newly renovated ADA accessible playscape with turf and equipment for all ages. There is a basketball court, restrooms, pavillion and shaded picnic tables. Thereis a paved nature trail along the Middle Branch Clinton River that’s great for walking, strolling or biking.

Stony Lake Township Park – Oxford


This 13-acre park has a beach, three picnic pavilions (Albertson, Brabb, & Martin), a gazebo, restrooms, boat launch, playground, and picnic areas with tables and grills.

Milt Hey / Hudson Park – Royal Oak


Royal Oak’s NEWEST playground is a winner and really unique. The climbing structures will create a fun ‘challenge’ for kids. There are also swings for all ages including a merry-go-round. The shaded playground also features a sandbox (always popular requests).

Beech Wood Park – Southfield


We love a new playground and Beech Woods Park in Southfield looks super cute and opens later this month

Sylvan Glen Lake Park – Troy


Check out the upgrades at Sylvan Glen Lake Park, Troy’s largest neighborhood park. The multi-million-dollar park has multiple play structures, ninja-style obstacle course, cardboard sled hill, traditional and net swings and more.

Riley Park – Walled Lake


Riley Park has a fresh new look and it’s the perfect spot for families! The updated playground features colorful climbing structures, slides, swings (including a toddler bucket swing), and fun interactive play panels on a soft, rubberized surface. Families can relax at shaded picnic areas, stroll the scenic walking trail, and take in the beautiful fall colors.

Burdi Park – Warren

Licht Park – Warren


There’s a new playground in Warren and your kids will love it! There’s turf ground, areas for littles and bigs, giant slides and spinning swings. There are also public restrooms!
