Dinosaurs are timeless favorites. If your kids can’t get enough of the prehistoric creatures, here are the best places to find dinosaurs throughout Metro Detroit.

H20 Zone Splash Pad – Westland


The dinosaur themed splash pad includes water sprayers, dump bucket and interactive features. Admission is $10 for non-residents ($5 for residents) and it is open daily from 11am to 7pm Memorial Weekend until Labor Day. Next to the splash pad is one of the largest playgrounds in southeast Michigan.

Cranbrook Institute of Science – Bloomfield Hills


Outside of Cranbrook Institute of Science your littles will be excited to meet Steggy (a life-size stegosaurus at the museum entrance) and other dinosaurs around the building. Inside the museum you don’t have to go far before you find a giant T-Rex.

During the summer months, spend time at Cranbrook Art Museum for a game of mini-golf at Cranbrook On The Green. The 10 hole golf course features a Steggy challenge. Cranbrook On The Green ends on September 22nd.

University of Michigan Museum of Natural History Museum – Ann Arbor


The three story museum of the University of Michgian campus features exhibits with life-size dinosaur fossils, natural life and a planetarium. All of the exhibits have hands-on components featuring textures or touch-screens, making it a fun experience for kids and a less stressful experience for parents. The drop-in Nature Labs offer kids the opportunity to step into the role of scientist and follow step-by-step instructions for experiments that feel like a craft but are very educational. The projects are compelling for all ages but simple enough for toddlers to participate. Best of all it’s all FREE!

Dinoland – Madison Heights


Find indoor fun for all ages at Dinoland. The indoor playground is dinosaur themed and lots of fun. Let the kids run around and even interact with animatronic dinosaurs.

Stage Nature Center – Troy


Stage Nature Center is a popular exploration site and the interpretive building has a Mastodon Dig site, filled with rubber mulch, Mastodon replica bones, shovels, boulders and brushes.

Blossom Heath Park – St. Clair Shores


The dinosaur themed play structure shaped like a dinosaur fossil with dinosaur pictures on the structure. Kids can climb on the dinosaur, into dino eggs and spend time in the sandbox doing a fossil search.

Dooley Park – Livonia


It doesn’t take much to make kids happy and Dooley Park is dinosaur themed with two dino figures for kids to ride on.

Woolley Park – Ann Arbor


Find dino figures for kids to ride on and a fun house shaped playground in Ann Arbor.

Dinosaur Park – Kalamazoo


If you find yourself near Kalamazoo, stop by Western Michigan University’s Dinosaur Park that features six large scale dinosaurs that are FREE too visit

Beech Wood Park – Southfield


This is a great playground for toddlers and has a stegosaurus slide and little dino rides. Also restrooms that are open seasonally.
