Coined the unofficial “downtown” of Rochester Hills, The Village of Rochester Hills is an outdoor retail and lifestyle center that welcomes the Metro Detroit community and visitors from around the world to shop, dine and relax at our 375,000-square-foot district.

Thelma Spencer Beach – Rochester


Thelma Spencer Beach has a 38 acre lake for swimming and boating. Kids can play at the playground or walk the nature paths.  Vehicle admission is $10 for residents and $5 for non-residents.

Innovation Hills – Rochester Hills


Innovation Hills playground is one of the largest playgrounds in Michigan with 5 unique play areas and a sensory garden there is something for all ages, interests and abilities. Kids will love the massive tree house, climbing features, turf hill for box sliding, musical instruments and water features. Parents will appreciate the ample amounts of cafe-style and picnic tables for snacks to go or relaxing while kids play safely on the playground. The playground is right next to the parking lot but enclosed to prevent kids from running off or being near traffic.

Rochester Avon Recreation Authority (RARA) – Rochester


The Rochester Avon Recreation Authority – aka RARA – is a powerhouse in the Rochester community. With a mission “to strengthen community through play”, the organization provides a multitude of opportunities for involvement. The list is long (and keeps growing): summer camps, sports, special needs services, performing arts, fitness, arts, dances, indoor playscape, date nights, and more. RARA also organizes big community events like Tons of Trucks, Craft & Vendor Fairs, and Mom2Mom Sales.
