Meet Lu

Hi! My name is Lu Huang. I am an engineer, a PhD, a photographer, a hobbyist baker, and most importantly, a mother. I have a 4-year old boy who keeps me on my toes and makes me proud every day. My little warrior fought his way out of prematurity, survived and thrived after a two-month long stay in the NICU. He has been my Muse ever since, motivating and inspiring me to create, for him, for myself, and for our family.

As an engineer, I mostly use my left brain for problem solving at work. And outside of work, I enjoy jogging my right brain a bit more to create with my little one. I love capturing the fleeting and precious moments of his childhood through my own lenses. And we sometimes sprinkle some Photoshop magic to the images to make his dreams come true. We also enjoy baking together, and turning our baked goods into his favorite things, like a superhero cake, Pokemon cookies or a sweet advent calendar.

Favorite Ways To Spend Family Time:

  • Hiking
  • Board games
  • Movie night

Favorite Places To Go:

Favorite Bedtime Stories:

Favorite Family-Friendly Restaurants:

Best Park/Playground: Stony Creek Metropark (Shelby Township)

This park has so much to offer, and our favorite spot has to be the Shelden Trails. The staff members and volunteers there make great efforts to keep it beautiful and fun. You may also find seasonal surprise decorations here and there along the trails, like Charlie Brown’s Christmas Trees, Easter eggs, just to name a few.

Best Family-Friendly Annual Event: Run Wild for the Detroit Zoo (Royal Oak)

Because strolling through the zoo is always fun! And this event is to raise funds for the veterinary care for the animals at the Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Center. We have been participating for the past years and collecting finisher medals that highlight different animals.

Your Mom Must-Have: Switch Ring Fit Adventure

The Ring Fit makes working out at home with a busy schedule so much easier and so much fun. My son loves following along and it is especially helpful in winters and during this pandemic.

Best Summer Destination or Event: U-Pick Farms

We absolutely love visiting local farms for their flower fields and U-pick experience during summertime. Fresh cut flowers and hand-picked fruits are the best.

“Pat Yourself on the Back” Accomplishment: Being accepted as a ClickPro Master

Saying that last year has been challenging would be an understatement for all moms. While juggling so many different things all at once, I was able to push myself a bit harder to put together my photography portfolio and was accepted as a ClickPro Master. I was excited and honored that my work was recognized by such a renowned organization that amplifies the voices of female photographers.
