Get ready to dance and roll at Monroe Street Midway this summer in Downtown Detroit!

 

The Monroe Street Midway opens as a family-friendly destination in downtown Detroit beginning Friday, May 28th. Presented by Bedrock and RollerCade (the nation’s oldest Black-owned roller rink), the Rollout Detroit Roller Rink will host a specially weekly theme nights and open skate hours for the public. It costs $10 per person to skate and skate rental is $3. Walk-ins are welcome but you can also reserve your time online here.

  • Monday – Wednesday: 12pm to 9pm
  • Thursday – Saturday: 12pm to 11pm
  • Sunday: 12pm to 9pm

 

In addition to skating, families can play basketball at the Rocket Mortgage Sports Zone and enjoy a family meal from local food trucks.

 

FREE parking is available to skaters. Park at one of these participating garages and receive up to 4 hours of validated parking.

Bounce @ Beacon Park (June 4 – September 13)

If you loved Los Trompos you’ll want to plan another trip to Beacon Park to check out Bounce. The latest art installation bring together colorful parachute cord and piano wire combine to create unique triangle shapes that during daylight hours cast shimmering shadows. The piece transforms at night, under the glow of ultraviolet light, into a surreal beacon and iridescent burst of color.

 

Detroit Grand Prix @ Belle Isle (June 11-13)

Calling all racing fans, the Grand Prix is back! Watch the cars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race in the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit doubleheader, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Series on the Raceway at Belle Isle for a one weekend only event.

 

Beyond Van Gogh @ TCF Center (June 28 -August 15)

The international sensation and immersive art experience of  Van Gogh is coming to Detroit. Become park of his sunny landscapes, night scenes, his portraits and still life paintings. Popular installations includes the Mangeurs de pommes de terre (The Potato Eaters, 1885), the Nuit étoilée (Starry Night, 1889), Les Tournesols (Sunflowers, 1888), and La Chambre à coucher (The Bedroom, 1889). Motor City Car Crawl @ Campaus Martius (August 5-8)

Look out for a new city-wide event this summer. The Motor City Car Crawl will be a walkable, city-wide festival to showcase new vehicles at displays in six downtown parks. Visitors can enjoy family entertainment and food trucks while they attend the car crawl. More details to come.
