You know spring has arrived when Greenfield Village opens for the year. The historic village opens to the public on Saturday, April 12th and members can get early access on Friday, April 11th.
Greenfield Village is our happy place. I love taking a trip through time to explore the working farm, Liberty Craftworks, Main Street and the historic homes. The gardens are a beautiful oasis and the train is fun for everyone. Let the kids run around, get sandy and a little wet in the summer at the playground. You can’t leave without a cone of custard because it’s ‘tradition’.
Your favorite Greenfield Village experiences will be open this year – the train, carousel, Model T rides, carriage rides, and the village playground. The farm animals will be out, crafts workers creating in Liberty Square and treats available available at the Frozen Custard Hut. Here’s a map of the Village to show you which experiences are staffed and which are open for self-guided tours.
Don’t leave hungry, grab a bite at Stand 44, the newest restaurant. Located next to the iconic Detroit Central Market, Stand 44 has a family-friendly menu (great pizza) and plenty of seating making it an easy place to stop with the kiddos.
A membership to The Henry Ford is one of the best investments you can make. With a basic family membership starting at $200, membership is a great investment as it gives your family free general admission to Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation and Greenfield Village, along with so much more. This includes free parking and presale opportunities for popular events like Day Out With Thomas (May 3rd – 18th), Halloweekends and Holiday Nights!
Make the most of your visit and head inside to The Henry Ford Museum to visit the Wallace & Gromit™ and Shaun the Sheep™: Shear Genius! before it ends on April 20th.
