If you haven’t been to Innovation Hills in Rochester Hills yet, now is the time to add it to your family’s must-visit list. Winner of the “Park Design of the Year” Award, this stunning 110-acre green space is home to Michigan’s largest playground and offers adventure, accessibility, and outdoor beauty like no other park in metro Detroit.
Start you visit at the massive playground featuring multiple activity areas for all ages and abilities. Highlights include the large tree house, box sled hill, musical instruments, ninja ropes courses and water stream. Parents will appreciate the abundance of café-style seating, picnic tables, and the thoughtfully designed, enclosed layout — making it easier to relax while the kids play safely.
When you’re ready to stretch your legs, open the gate and head out along with Boardwalk Adventure along the Clinton River to the Rope Bridge. The walk is fun and manageable for all ages and accessible with strollers, wheelchairs and wagons for almost all areas. At the front of the park is a giant bond with a glowing sidewalks that light up in the evening for a magical nighttime stroll.
Innovation Hills hosts Sensory Friendly Mornings every Wednesday and the third Sunday of each month from 8:00 – 9:30 am, offering a calmer, more inclusive play experience for all children.
The popular park can get busy. The main parking lot is $1.50 per hour but there is a free parking lot across Hamlin road with a pedstrian crossing. The park is open from 8am to 10pm.
