The Detroit Auto Show is back downtown, bringing a next-generation experience to Huntington Place from January 17th – 25th. With more than 20 attractions, hands-on activities and the special Racing Day on Tuesday, January 20th.

Presented by the Detroit Grand Prix, Racing Day puts motorsports front and center with a full day of high-energy programming, immersive displays, and hands-on fan experiences. The collaboration between two of Detroit’s most iconic automotive events continues to grow, delivering an unforgettable day packed with speed, skill, and storytelling.

Racing Day highlights include:

  • Motorsports stars and special guest appearances (to be announced)
  • Championship race cars from the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship
  • Interactive fan moments throughout the concourse and show floor, including autograph sessions, photo ops, and “Winner’s Circle” activations
  • A fully enhanced indoor track experience, inspired by landmarks from the Detroit Grand Prix street circuit, featuring production-vehicle ride-alongs with world-class drivers (schedule to be announced)
  • Live stage programming, including Q&As and panel discussions with voices from the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear and the broader racing community

The main show floor stage at Huntington Place will be open and accessible to all ticketed guests on Racing Day, making it easy for families to drop in and experience the action.

In addition to on-stage events, the Detroit Grand Prix display areas will feature:

  • Striking race cars and special vehicle displays
  • Fan-favorite photo opportunities like the “Winner’s Circle,” complete with trophies, racing hats, and champagne-bottle props
  • A Firestone racing tire-wall installation
  • Curated legacy imagery and storytelling that highlights the rich racing history of Detroit

These interactive elements make Racing Day especially engaging for kids, teens, and adults—whether you’re a lifelong race fan or new to motorsports.

Racing Energy All Show Long

Can’t make it on January 20? You’ll still find racing-inspired excitement throughout the public days of the show. From January 17–25, the Detroit Grand Prix footprint will be featured on both the concourse and show floor, with video content, historical displays, community engagement, and high-performance open-wheel and sports cars like those that compete annually on the Streets of Downtown Detroit.

Family-Friendly Fun Beyond Racing

New this year, a high-energy atrium activation welcomes families into the show with hands-on experiences celebrating Detroit’s role as a global hub for mobility and innovation. Interactive partners include the Michigan Science Center, Code 313, Pit Lane Sim Racing, and a kid-focused Power Wheels track presented by Jeep and Ram—perfect for sparking early curiosity and big smiles.
