One of our favorite family activities returns for another summer. The Reading & Rhythm on the Riverfront is a FREE program that encourages kids to have fun while reading in Detroit.
Reading and Rhythm on the Riverfront is held at Gabriel Richard Park, a large riverfront oasis, which allows families and children to physically distance. Families enjoy music, storytelling and story time, in person and projected on a large screen. Attendees also receive free snacks and a book.
45 minute sessions are hosted every Thursday + Friday at 10am and 11:30am from July 8th to August 12th and parents must pre-register one week prior to each session.
Gabriel Richard Park is located at the entrance of Belle Isle State Park and you should take the extra trip. A State Park Recreation Passport ($17 annually) is needed to drive on the island but then all of these activities are FREE! Here are our favorite activities to do on the island park:
- Dossin Great Lakes Museum
- Belle Isle Nature Center + Playground (!)
- Oudolf Garden Detroit
- Belle Isle Beach
