Celebrate Earth Day at the Detroit Zoo’s GreenFest! Bring recycable electronics during the E-Recycling event and enjoy FREE admission too!
On April 20th and 21st between 9am and 12pm guests can bring items (from the list below) to be recycled by the Detroit Zoo, in partnership with Cirba Solutions. For each driver who brings items, they will receive one free admission ticket to the zoo that can be used any time during 2024. Here is a list of acceptable recyclable items:
- All TVs and monitors (flatscreen, CRT, etc.)
- Printers
- Computers and laptops
- Cell phones and tablets
- Holiday lights, cords and other wire
- DVD and VHS players
- Batteries*
- Radios
- Small electronics
- Small appliances (does not include refrigerators)
After you drop off your recycling, stick around for Greenfest! Happening from 9am to 3pm on Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st and included with the price of general admission (or free for members), guests can enjoy an array of activities including:
- Captivating live music from local artists
- Hands-on activities led by local environmental experts and community groups
- A Connection Station for guests to be immersed into our green journey
- Animal engagements throughout the Zoo
- Event-themed photo opportunities
- A sustainable marketplace shopping experience & food trucks
In addition to E-Recyling activities (and parking), you’ll want to arrive early on either day becuase the first 250 groups to enter the Zoo will take home a 2-gallon bucket of Zoo Poo – compost created from waste collected at the Zoo, including manure, bedding and food waste! This compost with a cause is perfect to grow your garden or plant paradise. Vouchers are claimed at the entrance and redeemed upon exiting the Zoo*.
General admission to the Detroit Zoo for the 20th and 21st is $24 for adults and $21 for children 2 to 18. Parking is $8. You can also get an annual family membership for $139.
