If you’re looking for a day full of family fun look no further than Farmington. The Oakland County city has lots of exciting activities (indoor + outdoor) that the entire family will love.

Farmington Hills Nature Center

Experience the great outdoors – inside at the Farmington Hills Nature Center. Admission is free and open daily. Say hi to animals and learn about their habitat, have hands-on fun with STEM activities and crafts, check out nature through a microscope and sit down with a new nature book on a couch or in a tent! After you’ve had fun inside, take in the fresh air and walk one of the nature trails.

Located at Heritage Park, there’s even more to explore outside, including rustic nature trails with a children’s Discovery Walk, large playground, and FREE splash pad during the summer months.

Play Places

Throwback, tradition and brand NEW! Farmington has something for everyone. Grab the quarters from the piggy bank and visit Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum. The vintage arcade has a variety of games and kiddie rides that appeal to all ages. Jungle Java is the original play cafe features a large structure for older kids featuring slides, a basketball court, warrior courses and a playhouse and a secure open playspace for littles. Kid’s Empire is a NEW kind of indoor playscape with rides, slides, ballpits, indoor soccer and more! The Perfect Game is the perfect party place with bowling, laser tag and an arcade. The birthday parties are well run and fun for school-aged kids.

Farmington Community Library

While most cities have public libraries, few of them have really cool children’s departments. Farmington Community Library’s Children’s Area is located on the lower level and has countless activities for kids – including a stage with play house – your littles will easily spend hours in imaginative play. The Downtown Branch is also a great place to check out – especially if you’re looking for free, indoor play space for toddlers.

Farmington Civic Theater

The Civic Theater is a great place to take the kids for movie night. Tickets are less than $6 and the concessions won’t set you back. The old-fashioned theater (with modern amentities) is located in downtown Farmington and shows new releases and old (occasionally) favorites.

The HAWK

The star attraction of The HAWK is the indoor pool! The Aquatic Center leisure pool is zero depth entry with a lazy river, climbing wall, water slide, and splash area. But the Farmington Hills community center also offer regular children’s programming for families (including FREE pre-K events), a theater, gamers lounge, makerspace and more!
