If you’re looking for a day full of family fun head to the Pointes. Have a picture perfect afternoon at The Ford House, shop local and let the littles play before naptime.

The Ford House

If you want a picture perfect place to spend a day, head to the Ford House. The grounds are gorgeous and fun to explore. Walk along the water and search for turtles, ducks and birds on Bird Island or race through the gardens to look for flowers and food. When you’re hungry for snacks stop by the new Welcome Center and grab something to go at The Speedster or sit down for a bite at The Continental. Kids will enjoy checking out the vintage cars on display and interacting with touch screens showcasing the Ford Family and their home.

Plan your visit for one of these special events:

Rotary Tot Lot

The recently renovated Rotary Tot Lot is PERFECT for littles. The enclosed lot has small slides, climbers and swings (including two Mommy & Me swings) for a full afternoon of fun. Address: 721 St Clair Ave, Grosse Pointe, MI 48230

Local Spots To Stop:

Grosse Pointe Public Library: Cozy up with books and let the kids play at the Grosse Pointe Public library. There are multiple branches and the main one is our favorite.

Lou’s Pet Shop: You don’t need a pet to stop by Lou’s. The pet shop is like a mini zoo with bunnies to pet, reptiles and fish the mesmerize and other adorable pets for your kids to faun over.

Coreander’s Children Bookshooppe: Browse the whimsical children’s book store and sock up on your summer reading books – you won’t be able to resist picking up a book or two or ten.

Pink Elephant Cupcakes: The BEST cupcakes you’ll ever have. Although it’s not technically, Grosse Pointe it is located one right turn north of The Ford House – treat your self.

War Memorial Family Picnic

Spread out your picnic blankets on the lush green lawn of The War Memorial grounds, while a DJ plays some of your favorite summer songs and your family enjoys a variety of yard games, bounce house and take home customized portraits by a caricature artist at the War Memorial Family Picnic.
