Emu’s, and zonkeys, pigs, and kangaroos – oh my! Find farm animals and more at Carousel Acres in South Lyon, Michigan.

Carousel Acres is not your average petting farm. Where else are you going to hear a kookaburra while petting chickens! They have over 20 different kinds of animals here. They have been around since 1993 and have been expanding a little each year.

While you are waiting for your tour, you can play in their sandbox, have a duck race, play tether ball, or jump on over to the bouncy corral. Among many other things. My kids wanted to come back just for the kiddie push roller coaster ride. They have a bubble machine that is definitely a crowd favorite as well.

Your admission allows you to feed the parakeets, brush the miniature horses and zonkey, and go into the goat pen! (Please wait for an employee to help you with these.) You can then take a self-guided tour around the rest of the farm. Staff are around to help you, or answer any questions you may have. There are tons of informative signs and the names of the animals. Because let’s face it, all of the kids want to know the Ox’s name. (Oliver)

On weekends they offer pony rides for an additional $7. They also offer a gemstone mining experience where you can sift for treasures for an extra $10. They also do private parties, summer camps, and you can schedule a visit for them to come to you!

Carousel Acres is open weekdays 10am-2pm and on weekends 10am-3pm. Admission is $9 per person.
