The Sloan Museum of Discovery is a must for Michigan families! The interactive hands-on museum has something for kids of all ages.

We definitely suggest adding the Sloan Museum of Discovery to your must-visit list. The hands-on museum is one of our favorites and offers something for EVERYONE!

Start your visit in the History Gallery. The interactive exhibit lets you walk through time and learn about different stages of development in the Flint area, including Native American culture, logging, and automotive industries. Finish your self-guided tour at the Durant Vehicle Gallery, where you’ll find a car display that includes different decades of vehicles AND concept cars of the future.

The star attraction of the Sloan Museum is the Discovery Hall of Science. The colorful, high tech exhibition hall let’s kids challenge their senses and engage in science. This space can keep kids busy for hours, but they may also be easily drawn to the massive Great Lakes water table that is both fun and educational as it bring the real world to life.

Hagerman Street is great for little kids who love play-centric exploration. There is a child-size neighborhood with an EMS vehicle, car shop, grocery store, house, vet office, and a show-stopping nature based climbing tree house where parents can sit back and relax and the kids can play.

Be sure to spend at least a few hours at Sloan Museum of Discovery, but once they enter the Maker-space you may never get out. The stunning space has table stations with games, LEGOS, and arts and crafts including daily outfitting of crafts for kids to get creative and make their own piece of art. This area is great for all ages and your kids will beg to stay.

For those with older kids, the current traveling Real Bodies exhibit is an up close look at real human bodies and how they function. From blood vessels to bones, visitors can see inside our bodies to understand better how they function. For young scientists, it’s fascinating and enticing. This isn’t a great exhibit for young kids, but our 10 year old wants to go back and learn more.

The Sloan Museum of Discovery is open Tuesdays – Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and Sundays 12pm to 5pm. Admission is $13 for guests ages 12+ and children ages 2 to 11 are $8, younger guests are free. Parking is free and electric charging stations are available in the parking lot.
