Dinosaurs are timeless favorites. If your kids can’t get enough of the prehistoric creatures, here are the best places to find dinosaurs throughout Metro Detroit.

From Caterbury

Dino & Dragon Stroll (Lake Orion)

Dinosaurs and dragons are back at Canterbury Village for weekend fun in May. Find life-size dinosaurs, interact with baby dinos and smoke-breathing dragons. Every weekend will have a unique theme with bonus fun.

Dinosauria @ Detroit Zoo (Royal Oak)

Dinosauria returns to the Detroit Zoo, May 25th to September 8th. The immersive walk-through experience takes you along a trail teeming with lifelike, animatronic dinosaurs. From a towering Brachiosaurus to a massive T. rex, Dinosauria promises thrills at every twist and turn.

Kackleberry’s Jurassic Farm (Monroe)

Immerse yourself in a pre-historic adventure as you witness over 20 life-sized dinosaurs come to life at Kackleberry Farms in June. The new experience includes dinosaurs, photo-ops and over 30 farm fun activities.

Dinosaurs In Motion @ The Henry Ford (Dearborn)

The Henry Ford’s newest exhibition is equal parts delight, development and dinosaurs. Experience prehistoric animals like you’ve never seen before at Dinosaurs in Motion, where you can move or engage with 16 life-size metal dinosaurs. Enjoy the exhibit with general admission (it’s FREE for members!), the exhibit will run from June 9th to September 8th.

Cranbrook Institute of Science (Bloomfield Hills)

Before you even make it inside the building your littles will be excited to meet Steggy (a life-size stegosaurus at the museum entrance). The popular dinosaur has been bringing smiles to faces for years. Inside the museum you don’t have to go far before you find a giant T-Rex.

University of Michigan Museum of Natural History (Ann Arbor)

Journey through four billion years of life on Earth to learn how the first organisms changed our world and how evolution connects all living things. The Natural History Museum is a fantastic FREE place to see life-sized dinosaur bones. There is also a new temporary dinosaur exhibit – Dinosaur Discoveries to check out!

Dinoland (Madison Heights/Dearborn Heights)

Find indoor fun for all ages at Dinoland. The indoor playground is dinosaur themed and lots of fun. Let the kids run around and even interact with animatronic dinosaurs.

Stage Nature Center (Troy)

Stage Nature Center is a popular exploration site and the interpretive building has a Mastodon Dig site, filled with rubber mulch, Mastodon replica bones, shovels, boulders and brushes.

Parks & Playgrounds:

  • Blossom Heath Park (St. Clair Shores): The dinosaur themed play structure shaped like a dinosaur fossil with dinosaur pictures on the structure. Kids can climb on the dinosaur, into dino eggs and spend time in the sandbox doing a fossil search. Location: 24800 Jefferson Ave, St. Clair Shores
  • Dooley Park (Livonia): It doesn’t take much to make kids happy and Dooley Park is dinosaur themed with two dino figures for kids to ride on. Location: 14198 Harrison St, Livonia, MI 48154
  • Woolley Park (Ann Arbor): Find dino figures for kids to ride on and a fun house shaped playground in Ann Arbor. Location: 1220 W Textile Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48108
  • Dinosaur Park (Kalamazoo): If you find yourself near Kalamazoo, stop by Western Michigan University’s Dinosaur Park that features six large scale dinosaurs that are FREE too visit
  • Beech Wood Park (Southfield): This is a great playground for toddlers and has a stegosaurus slide and little dino rides. Also restrooms that are open seasonally. Location: 22400 Beech Rd, Southfield, Mi 48034
