The Monroe County Fair is July 30th – August 5th and the perfect reason to plan a visit downriver to check out Monroe.

Where To Go

If visiting a Great Lake is on your summer list, head to Sterling State Park for a swim in Lake Erie. The waves and water can’t be beat. The sand can be a little rcky so we recommend having swim shoes on hand. There’s also a playground and walking trails to enjoy too.

Where To Play

Munson Park‘s star attraction is the enclosed wooden play structure that has entry way seats for parents to sit back and relax while their kids race and play throughout the structure. In addition to climbing areas and slides there are multiple swings and model figures -including a school bus. The park also features multiple soccer and baseball fields, tennis and sand volleyball courts, a skate park, hiking trails – including a paved trail around the park – and a sledding hill for colder months. Double up on the fun – across the street you’ll find Veteran’s Park that features a modern play structure that overlooks a mini waterfall.

Enjoy A Treat

Since 1934, Independent Dairy has been serving up delicious ice cream in Monroe (including all the Michigan musts – Superman, Moose Tracks and Mackinaw Island Fudge) and it’s a short walk from Veteran’s Park.
