After closing in 2020, the Wayne County Parks, Nankin Mills Interpretive Center is now re-opened to the public!

Enjoy FREE family fun during a visit with turtles and other reptiles, while learning about the local ecosystem at the Nankin Mills Interpretive Center. There is no admission fee and it is open Mondays – Fridays from 1pm to 4pm. The center is not currently open to it’s pre-2020 capacity but a great place to beat the heat while you visit the Hines Drive playgrounds.

Hines Drive as some of the best playgrounds in metro Detroit. Across the street from the Interpretive Center is the Nankin Mills Recreation Area playground. Good for all ages, there are no swings, so while the kids climb and slide, you can sit back and relax under the pavilion or shaded seated areas.

‘A short drive (or longer walk), is Merriman Hallow (one of our favorite playgrounds) and Hawthorne Ridge Recreation Area (a fun, easy pump track for kids). On Saturdays through September 30th, Hines Drive is closed to motorized traffic so pedestrians and cyclists can enjoy the 6 mile thoroughfare.
