Bundle up and spend time outside at one of the many local winter festivals happening all throughout Metro Detroit this weekend. From ice carvings to plenty of live entertainment, find fun for all ages.

BRRmingham Blast (Birmingham)

Saturday, 10am to 6pm

Head to Downtown Birmingham for a winter family fun festival! Bundle up and fly through the sky on a zip line or get toasty in a warming tent with savory favorites and warm sweets from local food trucks.

Winterfest (Dryden)

Saturday, 10am to 3pm

Head to Seven Ponds Nature Center for Winterfest. There will be hot dogs for roasting over a fire, pond dipping, lawn games, ice cutting, ice skating, a snowman building competition, and interpretive walks outside. In the event there is not sufficient snow or ice, alternative activities will be provided. Admission is $3 per person and pre-registration is recommended.

Winterfest (Detroit)

Saturday, 11am to 4pm

Head to Belle Isle Nature Center for the opportunity to trek through the trails on snowshoes, make a feeder to care for birds in the winter, learn about animal adaptations and winter survival, and much more. Don’t miss out on this event full of outdoor adventures and cold-weather fun!

Winter Carnival (Oakland)

Saturday, 12pm to 4pm

Head to Bear Lake for FREE family fun including ice carving demos, penguin bowling, ice skating, hockey and more. All parking will be at Rochester Christian Church located at 4435 Rochester Rd., Rochester, MI 48306 and FREE shuttle services will run from 11:45am-4:30pm.

Fire & Ice Show (Franklin)

Saturday, 2pm to 4pm

Head to Franklin Library for ice sculpting with exceptional ice artist Tajana from Ice Dreams Sculptures and, new this year, fire performer Steampunk Xena will do fire magic with fire eating, breathing, swords and more! 

Winterfest (Oak Park)

Sunday, 1pm to 4pm

Oak Park’s FREE winter festival is back for another year with ice skating, reindeer, carriage rides, ice carving, face paint, crafts and more!

Zehnder’s Snowfest (Frankenmuth)

Wednesday – Sunday

Take a road trip to Frankenmuth for Snowfest! Enjoyed larger-than-life snow sculptures and beautifully detailed ice carvings in addition to entertainment for the entire family, fireworks, petting zoo and children’s activities.

World of Winter (Grand Rapids)

The World of Winter is a FREE outdoor festival that takes over downtown Grand Rapids’ parks every year. Bundle up and walk along the Grand River to find a variety of larger-than-life art installations, interactive ice activities, selfie stations and more! This is the Midwest’s LARGEST winter festival and it’s only 2 hours away.
