Berkley kicks-off festival season on Thursday, May 9th. The Midway opens at 5pm on Thursday and offers four days of family fun! Admission is $3 for guests over 2 and you can purchase wristbands on-site for $20 on Thursday and Sunday and for $25 on Friday and Saturday for the Midway.

Mother & Son Outdoor Adventure

Moms and their son(s) will start the night by getting a special activities map at the registration table. Then the adventure begins as you go from station to station. Can you and your mother create the tallest “tree tower”? Will you be able to work together to “I-spy” everything hidden in the woods? Some stations will have you and your mom competing against each other, other stations you will have to work together.

John Ball Zoo is a gem and during the Lantern Festival it glows. The lantern festival features handcrafted Asian lantern displays that illuminate a pathway through the entire zoo, telling the intersecting story of wildlife and Asian culture. Throughout the walk you can stop to get photos with displays (including Chinese Zodiac sign and angel wings), stop for bubble fun, sneak off to the illuminated play area and more.

Learn about behind-the-scenes happenings at the Department of Public Services during their Open House event, scheduled for Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 851 South Eton. This annual event is a family favorite with DPS trucks, fire trucks and equipment on display, informational exhibits and complimentary grilled hot dogs and other refreshments!
